Why do I do it?!
It comes twice a year, costs $200 and takes so much of my time.
So why such a sacrifice?
Everything comes down to a feeling, so I would like to share mine.
Normal Training Day
5:30 am jog 3 miles = Sluggish, heavy, sleepy.
7:00 am breakfast = ravenous
9:00 am 1.5 open ocean swim = exhilarating
Day of the race I'm:
= pumped up, ready to go yet calm
Push, pace yourself, just short of cardiac arrest.
Finish race = Whew! I'm glad that's over.
Drink beer = Dizzy yet satisfied.
Lava-man; it's a way of life.
