Airline Travel: Tips and Tricks
Although I’ve worked for the airlines for about 30 years, I still become a bit stressed when it comes to packing, getting to the airport and through security. For one thing, I tend to pack at the last minute and oftentimes I either bring too much clothes or not enough. If only I would take the time to write down the days and the activities we plan to do would I have the right amount of wardrobe and footing. With almost every airline charging for checked baggage, it is best to plan ahead.
Yes, plan to be at the airport 2 hours ahead to allow time to check in, get through security, and maybe get a quick bite or relax a bit before boarding your flight. Call the airline or check online for the timeliness of your flight. If possible listen to or watch the traffic reports just in case traffic is really bad.
TSA allows 3.4oz of liquid per container and all liquid container must be able to fit a quart sized ziplock. Jellies, jams, gels, snowballs are some questionable items that are not allowed in your handcarry so be sure to pack them in your checked bag. Your computers must be taken out of its case and placed in a tub to be x-rayed. Also, place your liquids in another tub so that TSA can look at it immediately rather than having to stop the belt and dig through your belongings.
