Today's Education: What's Missing?

Our school system prepare and educate our children for college and working careers however it doesn't teach them the necessities of being on their own.  Opening a savings or checking account, budgeting and balancing a checkbook, how credit cards work and interest rates are some of the necessities.  I was surprised to learn that some students think one can charge on credit and not have to pay interests or service fees.
