Kailua, Hawaii
Kailua is located on the island of Oahu. Kailua Kona is located on the island of Hawaii. This does cause confusion at times. We will be discussing Kailua, not Kailua Kona.
This is a small town with a population of about 40,000, located approximately 12 miles northeast of Honolulu on the windward side of the island of Oahu. To get there from Honolulu you would take the Pali highway up the Koolau hillside, through the tunnel at the top then descend back down to sea level and arrive in Kailua. This delightful little town houses most of the residents in single family homes, however there are a few condominiums and townhouses.
