Staging Your Property

 Part 1:  What Is Staging?

To make a house a home, most of us will decorate with our own personal style.  While living there, it fits perfectly with you and your lifestyle.  However, when you put your home on the market, this personalization can stop a buyer right in their tracks.  For example, if the seller is a hunter and likes to showcase their hunt kills on the wall, it may cause a potential buyer to bolt out of your home screaming, never to return again.

Staging is “depersonalizing” your home.  Depersonalizing means to take away or omit personal qualities of something.  The personal qualities in the home are omitted or adjusted to neutrally suit a variety of tastes and preferences.

There are now professional staging consultants who can help you with this process, although you as a homeowner can do many things to enhance your property with just a few dollars and a little elbow grease.
