Lisa Roach, R(S)
Biography
Growing up in the fertile Red River Valley in northern Minnesota, Lisa’s family raised sheep and chickens for market. After graduating high school, Lisa traveled the U.S. (by bicycle) and finally settled in northern California where she spent 7 years fighting wildfires for the U.S. Forest Service.
Throughout her life, Lisa has been a passionate gardener. Moving to Hawaii in 2006 allowed her to fulfill that passion year-round. She transformed a two acre piece of old cane land into the wonderful organic farm it is today, using permaculture principles and techniques of organic farming. She believes if you’ve got soil, you’ve got everything. She also believes that there aren’t enough farmers in Hawaii willing to put in the hard work that organic farming takes.
Experience
Lisa got her start in real estate by buying and selling a fixer-upper in Humboldt County in northern California. She and her family relocated and built an off-grid, solar powered home in the paradise belt of upper Kapoho. This is where she raises goats, chickens, and any number of fruits that she puts out at her fruit stand on the highway.
Though new to real estate, Lisa has the type of personality and attention to detail that it takes to make a fine agent. She’s working with Bill Duff and together, they make a dynamite team (see Bill’s bio here). Her experience of building her own farm would be useful to anyone who might want to do the same.
