Staging 101: Pets and Storage Areas
We love our pets but have to realize that some people will not appreciate our pet snake for instance.
There are many folks who fear snakes, mice, hamsters, large dogs, and snarling cats. When opening your home up to others, you must consider the fact that the one potential buyer who didn’t like the snake may have been the purchaser. Consider using animal carriers to contain your pets if you keep them at your home. There are also doggy daycare facilities available who can keep and care for your pets during this time. You may also consider keeping your animals at the neighbors or with family members.
After you have determined what items to leave in your home, you have to consider how you are going to store the items you want to keep but need to be removed for showings. There are several options available. Your garage makes a perfect place for storage or you can rent a storage unit. In either case, it is imperative that you keep the area of choice fully organized. You can also rent a POD (Portable On Demand Storage Facility). These are storage units that are deliverable to your home and then are removed to a new location. These are perfect for the items you wish to keep for your new home. If you are considering having a garage sale, make sure it is completed and all the excess is removed prior to marketing your home.
