Staging 101: Curb Appeal

An essential part of a first impression is curb appeal.  After seeing a photo on-line or on a flyer, the moment a potential buyer first lays eyes on your property is the best time to achieve that “wow” factor. This can be accomplished through simple sweat-equity, as follows:

-         Weekly lawn mowing, trimming and edging

-         Lawn should be fertilized and green

-         Leaves and limbs should be raked up

-         Weeds pulled up

-         Any pond or water feature should be clean and clear

-         Gutters should be flowing and free of debris

-         Clean all the windows

-         Make sure the outside appearance of the house is kept up clean and free from yard debris

-         Put your boat in storage and remove any broken-down vehicles

-         Garage doors should be kept closed at all times

-         Sweep the sidewalks and doorsteps

-         Consider a fresh coat of paint or touch-up to add value to your home

-         To add drama, place potted plants to your entrance or areas or patios/lanais

-         Your house number should be clearly visible and lit up if possible

Remember, your goal is to sell your home as possible.  All of these suggestions will help you reach that goal.  The less time your home is on the market could mean more money in your pocket!
